The girls from Madison have been waiting for this weekend all season: the State A Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs faced off against Beresford in the opening round on Thursday night. Dacey and I decided to head up to Watertown and cover the picture end of the game for the Madison Daily Leader.
It’s quite the experience to be on the front lines during a state basketball tournament. It’s crazy and loud and the students are very full of enthusiasm. For the first quarter, I was under the basket at the bottom of the bleachers in front of the Beresford student section. After 8 minutes of intensity and occasion bumps from behind, I made my way to the friendly territory of the Madison bleachers.
Here are a few more images than normal from the game. The first ones are Dacey’s.
We have many other games on the the website. Check out the related links on the bottom of this post.

My heart sank last night as I saw the score and the time left at the end of regulation. I thought there was no way for the Bulldogs to take the game to overtime, but I did not count on Mitch Benson’s last second shot.
The loss was still hard to take. I’ve covered the last two State A Tournaments for the Leader and it’s been fun to watch the kids grow.
