Dakota State’s football season is over until next Fall. The Trojans had a tough year. Here are a few images from their game against Briar Cliff a few weeks ago.

Check out these images from DSU’s Homecoming football game.

The DSU Volleyball team pulled out a win on Saturday afternoon before the football game.

Rutland grad Alex stopped by to visit while we were photographing MHS football at Trojan Field earlier this week.

We had great lighting for Softball action pictures on Monday evening as Dakota State took on Black Hills State in a doubleheader. Check out the images from the games. Many of these images were taken through the chain link fence.

It hasn’t been the best weather for Spring baseball. Here are a few images from Monday night’s Dakota State game.

DSU Coach Ken Prorok loves the look of his team pictures. Yes, we do it the hard way.

Last night the MHS Bulldog Basketball game ended early enough for me to catch the second half of the DSU men’s game. Here are a few images for you to enjoy.

I was reading the South Dakota Magazine that came in the mail and came upon a picture of our trainer Lisa in a DSU football jersey. The picture looked familiar and it should. We looked through the archives and sure enough, we found it. So how did a Black Studios image make it into the South Dakota Magazine without our knowledge?
We support DSU athletics by supplying images to the University of action shots. The image of Lisa was taken at Homecoming a year ago from last Fall. The picture made its way through the channels and into the magazine. It’s quite cool to see your image in print. Even though we’ve had hundreds of images published in newspapers and magazines (even one in Sports Illustrated), it still is a great feeling.

Another Wednesday night waiting for the kids to get done with church activities. So what do I do? I find a game of some sort.
I love available light sports photography. I can travel lighter and not worry about the flash creating harsh shadows, but the lighting is not always ideal in local gyms, making me push the limits of the cameras abilities.
Here’s a few from tonight’s match at the DSU Fieldhouse.

I popped up to the DSU Fieldhouse for some volleyball action while I waited for the kids to get done with wednesday night church activities. I made it in time to see the Lady Trojans win over DWU in three straight games. This was the spike that won the third game.
The DSU Lady T’s have become a dominant force in college women’s basketball. Coach Jeff Dittman continues to lead a successful program year after year.
You can see how the edge in technology that DSU possesses has affected how sports are broadcast. A series of cameras covers the action for the webcast on the internet as well as the Daktronics scoreboard.
Black Studios doesn’t just do sports memory mates. We do action pictures as well. Mike started photographing DSU sports in the late 1980′s when he was a student.
