Check out these images from DSU’s Homecoming football game.

The DSU Volleyball team pulled out a win on Saturday afternoon before the football game.

The Doane College Tigers took on the Dakota State University Trojans in football action this afternoon. Here are a few images from the game.

Rutland grad Alex stopped by to visit while we were photographing MHS football at Trojan Field earlier this week.

Dayna and Christina are walking across the platform tomorrow at the DSU Fieldhouse. We’ve gotten to know both girls through the Community Center. Dayna works the front desk, always welcoming us with a smile. You may have seen her on the DSU Lady T’s Basketball team a few years ago. Christina has been our personal trainer for quite a while now. She loves circuit training. We wish them well in their new adventures.
Here are a few images from their cap and gown session earlier this week.

We had great lighting for Softball action pictures on Monday evening as Dakota State took on Black Hills State in a doubleheader. Check out the images from the games. Many of these images were taken through the chain link fence.

It hasn’t been the best weather for Spring baseball. Here are a few images from Monday night’s Dakota State game.

DSU Coach Ken Prorok loves the look of his team pictures. Yes, we do it the hard way.

Last night the MHS Bulldog Basketball game ended early enough for me to catch the second half of the DSU men’s game. Here are a few images for you to enjoy.

I spent a little too much time at the DSU vs Mayville State game on Wednesday night, but all is forgiven. Sometimes when you get into the zone of taking pictures, time passes more quickly than you realize.
Here are a few images from the game. A few technical notes: I shoot sports available light 95% of the time. I don’t like to have to mess with strobes or funky shadows. That takes extra time I don’t have. I believe in going in as tight as possible. Facial expressions make or break an image. My perfect shot means eyes open, great expression and ball at the end of the fingertips with the player’s face tack sharp and the ball a little blurry from motion.

Christina takes over duties from Lisa who enjoyed two years as our personal trainer at the Community Center in Madison. I’ve always found that it helps to have a trainer to push you farther than you would push yourself. They know all of the tricks to maximize your results. You too can workout with Christina during “Total Training” class at 12:15 in the aerobics room of the Community Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Christina is just one of the many trainers available to help you with your workout program at the Community Center. If you are interested in getting faster and stronger, talk to Jason Crisp upstairs in the weight room. He can find someone on his staff to help you reach your goals.
We’ve been serious about the programs at the Community Center for more than three years now. All it takes to get started is commitment and then dedication until exercise and wellness becomes a part of your lifestyle. There is no need to be embarrassed about your current shape. We all have to start from somewhere. In a matter of months, your body will change and adapt to your new lifestyle. Not only will you feel better, you’ll look better too. Hope to see you up there.

It was “Nerd Night” as DSU men and women took on the Hardrockers from SD School of Mines on Friday night at the DSU Fieldhouse. Here are a dew images from the men’s game.

Here are a few from the Lady T’s game with SD School of Mines on Friday night at the DSU Fieldhouse. Everything captured available light.

I was reading the South Dakota Magazine that came in the mail and came upon a picture of our trainer Lisa in a DSU football jersey. The picture looked familiar and it should. We looked through the archives and sure enough, we found it. So how did a Black Studios image make it into the South Dakota Magazine without our knowledge?
We support DSU athletics by supplying images to the University of action shots. The image of Lisa was taken at Homecoming a year ago from last Fall. The picture made its way through the channels and into the magazine. It’s quite cool to see your image in print. Even though we’ve had hundreds of images published in newspapers and magazines (even one in Sports Illustrated), it still is a great feeling.

I popped up to the DSU Fieldhouse for some volleyball action while I waited for the kids to get done with wednesday night church activities. I made it in time to see the Lady Trojans win over DWU in three straight games. This was the spike that won the third game.
Dakota State’s graduation isn’t very far away. Allie came out earlier this week for a fun cap and gown session. Here are a few of her favorites.
