Lynda’s New Facebook Profile Picture

Lynda, Greg and Garrett came to the studio this morning for family pictures. Lynda wanted a new facebook profile picture and we were glad to help.

Which one do you like better: left or right?

Rasmussen Family – Elkton South Dakota Family Pictures

We had fun tonight with the Rasmussen family from Elkton.

We have sessions still available over the next few weeks. Give ElizaBeth a call at the studio for an appointment: 586-4143

Stemper – Madison South Dakota Family Pictures

Pete and his family came to Rutland on one of the windiest days of October. We found enough shelter to capture some great images before moving into the studio. Here are a couple of images from their family session.

The new computers are all configured and we are quickly catching up on all of our orders. We love the speed. We will be posting more on the blog over the next two weeks. We do have a some evening sessions available before Thanksgiving. Call ElizaBeth at the studio for info: 586-4143.

Eastlyn at 3 months – South Dakota Baby Photography

Mom and Dad came with Eastlyn for her 3 month session a while back. Here are a few images from her portrait session at Black Studios. We even did a couple of family pictures at the same time.

Coy at one year – South Dakota Baby Photography

Here are images from Coy’s one year session as part of his Baby Plan.

Avery’s Baby Plan Panel – Madison SD Baby Photography

ElizaBeth told me a couple of days ago that all of the posts recently did not show the work we had been doing. We do more than sports and senior boys. We’ve been going full throttle lately so many projects haven’t made it on the blog in the past few months. We will start catching up and I post more in between working on wedding albums and sports teams. Here’s Avery’s Baby Plan Panel.

Harvest at the Hyland Farm – Cutting Silage

The smell of silage brings back memories of growing up on the farm. These days things go much faster than we did when I was a kid. We had an old Gehl cutter and Dakon wagons. It took a while to unload the wagon and fill the silo. It was way dangerous back then with all of the belts and augers. Many of my grandfather’s friends had hooks where a hand should of been.

Dana’s Family – Madison SD Family Pictures

All the kids know her as Mrs. Gonyo. I know her as Dana, my cousin Gary’s wife. Dana brought her family to the studio a while back for an indoor/outdoor portrait session. Here are a few of their favorites.

Elijah’s Birthday Club Magnet – Pierre South Dakota Children’s Photography

Here’s one of the recent Birthday Club magnets that we’ve been working on.

Allen Girls Fun Dress Up – Madison South Dakota Children’s Photography

As Mom and Dad were picking out Ainsley’s 4 yr Birthday pictures, the girls decided to play dress up with some of our fun accessories.

Marv and Ruth

Christmas presents come in many forms. We like the gift of portraits. Marv and Ruth came up in early December for their session.

Ruth has sold Avon for years. If you’ve needed your washer or dryer repaired in the last 50 years, Marv has probably been to your house.

They were first the parents of my classmate David. They were then our next door neighbors. We now call them friends.

Marv and Ruth never seemed to age in our eyes, but time tints our memories. They take life a little easier these days, still going but working less.

Myrvik Family – South Dakota Family Pictures

The Myrvik family came to the studios for some post Christmas pictures. Here’s their 4×10 composite image.

Allen Family Christmas Card – Madison South Dakota Family Pictures

We’ve been doing pictures for the Allen family for a very long time. Here’s their Christmas card from last December.

Elly and her brothers – Madison South Dakota Family Pictures

Elly and her three brothers came for a session last Fall. Word has it that their parents LOVED the pictures. While I liked the color version, I think the sepia treatment works well on this image.

Foland Family Christmas card – Madison South Dakota Family Photography

Another fun Christmas card designed by ElizaBeth.

Jacobson Family Christmas card – Howard South Dakota Family Photography

Here’s one we missed putting on the blog from December.

Maydsen’s Birthday Club Magnet – Pierre South Dakota Children’s Photography

Another fun Birthday Club magnet for Madysen. Mom and Dad have been bring her since she was a baby…now she’s all grown up.

Don’t forget to check out our Caring Cuties contest.

Martin Family Christmas Card – Madison SD Baby Photography

Jena and Jason let their little guy be the star of their Christmas card. ElizaBeth designed a custom card while they watched on our big screen.

Don’t forget to check out our Caring Cuties contest

Preston at 3 months – Madison SD Baby Photography

Keri brought Preston and Peyton to see us a few weeks ago as part of our Baby Plan. Preston is growing up so fast. Here are a few of our favorites.

Don’t forget to check out our “Caring Cuties” contest.

Ella at 6 months – Madison SD Baby Photography

Mom and Dad opted to get magnets of Ella’s six month pictures to share with their family. Ella is just too cute for words.

Boys will be boys: Sievers Family – Rutland SD Family Photography

Branden and Delaina needed some new family pictures but the boys had more than a little fun posing for the camera. They were quite good at making goofy expressions.

We did get a few great images without the funny faces at the farm and at the studio.

Foland Christmas Card – Madison South Dakota Family Photography

What a fun family! ElizaBeth designed a cool Christmas card for the Foland family. Cards don’t have to be just for Christmas: pick your favorite holiday and we can design a custom greeting for you.

No More Hibernation — Bring out Your Cuties!

I think the cold has put us all in hibernation mode. It’s cold. It’s so much work to bundle up, to get the car started, to wander out on roads, not sure that they won’t be icy or blown over by the time you come home. Boy, can I relate! Here I am with Rachel a week ago on one of those zero degree days where I wasn’t brave enough to head to town but still needed a little exercise. This is usually a little mile section that we run the dog or the kids run for gym class. This day I couldn’t find the road on the whole mile. It was a good, challenging walk, but I was happy to see the snow plow come to open the back road up.

Having said that, No worries, we are so thankful to the snow plows that open up the paved road to Rutland every day, and also to great neighbors, Denny and the Carpers for keeping our alley and our parking area nice and clean so you can all come visit us. And, I’m going to plan on the cold weather finally breaking. Today, the weather crept up to 30 degrees. I was loving the feel of the sun on my face and being able to be out without hurrying to get out of the chill.

We had so much fun playing in the cold a couple weeks ago, with the Freeze Your Fanny 5k Run, that we decided to continue the fun and also the love we want to share with the Leah’s Kids organization. The group from Madison will be off to Guatemala in just a couple weeks, to help finish the house for the orphanage, but there is always continuing need for support at the orphanage. Mike and I have decided to find a new way to help them out. Of course, we want you to help out, too. So, here’s our new program.

We are announcing the Caring Cuties Contest. For the month of February, we are looking for cuties to come out and support the orphanage. $25 will enter your children into the contest, give you a 60 minute session, and a free 8×10. The entrance fee all goes to Leah’s Kids and the Casa Angelina orphanage. (Check out www.leahskids.com) Then March 1-15, we will post our entries online for our viewers to vote for the cutest kids. We plan to have three categories of winners: zero to four year old, five to 12 year old, and groups –A great chance to get all the grandkids together in one portrait. Call today to set up your appointment 1.605.586.4143. Have an adorable idea to make your session more creative? Make sure you give us your idea when you call so we can plan for something fun.

Spier Family Pictures – Madison SD Family Photography

Take yourself back in time not that long ago when the ground was not white and the temperatures were not freezing. We photographed the Spier family on a beautiful Fall afternoon at their place in Madison.
