We love working with little kids: you never know what you are going to get. Sometimes you get models that love to be in front of the camera. Sometimes you get the shy ones who want to attached themselves to Mom’s leg and never let go. We also get our share of wild ones that barely sit still long enough to get a picture. We love them all. We are a kid friendly place. We have lots of toys and all the kids no where the snack bucket is.

Valentine makeover pictures
We started getting phone calls from California this morning asking about the Valentine makeover sessions that they saw on Fox 11. I was confused at first and then at caller number 4, I was able to ask enough questions to figure out what was going on. Norma Blaque has studio in California and was featured on the morning show, Good day LA, with a story done by reporter Gina Silva. This piece showed ladies getting makeovers for Glamor Shots type of images. Our web traffic today was off the hook thanks to this story. Everyone heard the studio’s website as blackstudios.com when in reality it was www.blaquestudios.com

Brian and Amanda: First moments
It’s been one week since Brian and Amanda said “I do” in the Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda, South Dakota. If you remember last weekend’s weather forecast, we were supposed to get rain, freezing rain, snow and lots of wind. Thank God the weatherman missed his prediction. We did have a little rain and snow on Saturday but we did have mild temps in the 30’s making travel much easier.
We always do “First Moments” with the bride and groom in the sanctuary before we start taking couple pictures. It gives the couple the opportunity to see each other all dressed up for the first time on their wedding day. It’s a time full of emotion: nervousness, tears of joy, laughter and love. Here are a few of Brian and Amanda that were included in the reception slideshow.

ORR vs Dell Rapids St Mary: Girls Basketball
Last week’s DVC games were moved around due to the weather so the ORR girls found themselves playing under the funky yellow lights of the Arena in Estelline. The yellow lighting messed with your eyes and the camera didn’t care for it much either. It wasn’t the prettiest game but the Lady Raiders came away with the win.

Nunda South Dakota Wedding Photography: Brian and Amanda – 01.23.10
The forecast for yesterday’s wedding looked as if we were going to be using candles as all of the Sioux Falls TV stations were telling us freezing rain, snow and high winds were on the way for the weekend. Most weekend athletics were even canceled by the local schools. Lucky for us the temperature stayed a couple degrees warmer than expected.
Brian and Amanda had an amazing wedding on Saturday. They were surrounded by their family and friends in the Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda. We must have known 75% of the people at the wedding which made everything that much more special.
This was the last image in their reception slideshow of their wedding day. Thanks to Jeremy Brech for providing with the appropriate music for the slideshow. We always know that we will be taken care of when DJ Jer is in the house.

REVENGE! Colman-Egan vs ORR at DVC
The Colman-Egan CE-Hawks took away a win tonight in DVC action at the Colman gym. Foul trouble plagued the Raiders. Two of their dominate players found themselves sitting on the bench with four fouls each. Alex Waba ended his game in the second half while Blake Menor had to be careful not to add a final foul to his night. The game was back and forth until the last seconds of the game when Colman-Eagan took the lead and held on for the victory.
In first half action senior Dylan Reaves (20) goes to the basket surrounded by Alex Waba (22), Logan DeRungs and Austin Jensen. This is the one for tomorrow’s Madison paper.

Double Overtime! ORR vs Elkton Boys Basketball
Elkton came to Rutland confident in their abilities. Coach Malcomb had another plan. Seniors dominated the Elkton roster. Their size, speed and experience seemed to seal the Raiders’ fate before the jump ball. The ORR crowd was pleasantly surprised starting right away in the first quarter as the Raiders opened up a lead on Elkton. The score was close the entire game with ORR ahead for most of it. Coach Malcomb’s stress grew towards the end of the game. Regulation time ended with the score tied. It came down to free throws. The Raiders couldn’t seal the win. The game continued to a second OT. The crowd held their breath as the fouls added up and then erupted into celebration as the final buzzer blew.

Orion and Brodie came into the Studio for a suprise Christmas present for their mother. We had a blast taking their pictures and as you can see they were all smiles.
Adalyn at 3 Months
Adalyn is 3 months old already. Wow, does time fly and the little ones change so fast. Here is a picture of Adalyn when she was a newborn and then some of her 3 month pictures to show how much she has changed.
You have to have patience with babies. We take our time and let the kids get comfortable first and then we can take pictures.
You get to pick out your images right away, saving huge amounts of time and gas.
Now if we did not quite get what you wanted the first time, we can easily take a few more without having to schedule a new appointment. The longer the kids are here, the more they seem to like it. Our studio is big enough that they can run and play and still be in plain sight.
